Lands of America data records $452 million in farms, ranches and other land for sale in the Badger State. This represents some 59,338 acres of Wisconsin land for sale. The most expensive property listed for sale on Lands of America recently was $9 million, though the median price for land, ranches and rural property in Wisconsin was $225,103. The average price of land, ranches and farms in Wisconsin was $338,129. There was 1,074 acres of sold land in Wisconsin recorded last month through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects a 24 percent decrease in sales activity over the previous month. The total value of this sold land and rural real estate was $8.3 million. Wisconsin hunters head out into the state's forests and public hunting lands each fall to bag white-tailed deer, followed by the popular wild turkey hunting season in spring. The state's lakes, ponds and rivers and streams brim with over 160 species of fish. In terms of size, Wisconsin is the country's 23rd-largest state, covering an area of 65,503 square miles (42 million acres). Of this area, 54,158 square miles (83 percent) of the state is land, while the remaining 11,339 square miles is covered by water. As befits a state with excellent hunting for big and small game like deer, waterfowl and wild turkey, hunting land was the most common type of land for sale in Wisconsin. Of the 72 counties in the state, Sawyer County had the most land and rural real estate for sale.
